Build, perfect, refine; rebuild, fine-tune, rework. It's the nature of any creative or business endeavor. Finding the right fit can be a daunting proposition.
That's why industry expert Patricia Scarlett has recently launched Scarlett Media Inc., a new company specializing in bringing the right players together at the right time to move television productions through the development and creation process to optimize their distribution potential.
Scarlett, President of Scarlett Media Inc., is the TV executive's ally in the complex and often unwieldy world of sales, distribution, co-productions and contracts. To producers, she recommends sales strategies and content modifications to further enhance marketability, and works to formulate win-win contracts between all parties involved in a production. While Scarlett acts primarily as a broker between television producers and distributors, she also facilitates partnerships between producers and writers, editors, musicians, publicists, programmers and network executives.
A 14-year veteran of international film and television markets, Patricia Scarlett considers the world her office, although in fact, home is Toronto, Canada. While representing TVOntario and her original company, Compass International (founded with fellow sales superstar Antoinette MacDonald), Scarlett has met key industry players wherever they congregate.
Scarlett has facilitated meetings between potential business partners on Cannes' sidewalks, discussed copy points on a riverboat in New Orleans, and made deals on Nova Scotia beaches and a plantation verandah. She's secured major presales for Toronto's East West Media in South Africa and the Middle East, and paired production partners in Trinidad and Nova Scotia. Thanks to Scarlett, Toronto-based producers Loten Media and Norflicks have attracted the attention of several potential German co-production partners.
Scarlett applies her unique perspective to finding a fit between the myriad participants in, and components of television productions to maximize marketability. Just watch for the "lady in red."
